DIS-285P High-End Interface Card Delivers Studio Quality TFT Displays

The DIS-285P board supports high resolution displays of up to 1920 x 1440 pixels. Renesas Rolls Out Enhanced H8SX 32-Bit CISC Microcontrollers
Renesas Technology America, Inc. announced the enhancement of its popular 32-bit CISC (Complex Instruction Set Computer) microcontrollers with the addition of three new product groups. The eight devices in the H8SX/1638, H8SX/1648, and H8SX/1622 groups operate at up to 50MHz, achieve performance levels up to 50 MIPS, and have extensive arrays of on-chip peripheral functions.

ST Deploys Synopsys Design Compiler Topographical Technology
Synopsys, Inc. (Nasdaq: SNPS), a world leader in semiconductor design software, announced that that STMicroelectronics (NYSE: STM), a leading supplier of semiconductors, has deployed Synopsys Design Compiler(R) topographical technology in its 90-nanometer (nm) and 65-nm application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) design flow to expedite design time. IMEC Announces First Digital UWB Transmitter IC for IEEE 802.15.4a
IMEC’s 90nm CMOS digital UWB transmitter is the first ever published IEEE 802.15.4a standard-compliant transmitter and outperforms state-of-the-art low-power narrowband transmitter implementations. The transmitter covers all the frequency bands of the standard up to 10GHz and is especially suited for application in low-power wireless sensor networks.

Khronos Group Ratifies OpenMAX IL 1.1 Standard for Streaming Media
The Khronos(TM) Group is pleased to announce that it has ratified and publicly released the royalty-free OpenMAX(TM) IL 1.1 specification. OpenMAX IL 1.1 defines enhanced media component interfaces to enable the rapid integration of media acceleration into streaming media frameworks on embedded devices. Khronos has also launched the OpenMAX IL 1.1 Adopter’s Program that provides access to a new set of conformance tests. Products that meet the requirements of the conformance tests may use the OpenMAX IL trademark which insures customers of reliable, cross-platform audio, video, and image codec interoperability.

IMEC Announces 9bit 50Mbit/s ADC with Record Figure of Merit
At the International Solid State Circuit Conference, IMEC presents an ultra-low power (0.7mW) high-speed (50Msamples/s) analog to digital converter (ADC) with a figure of merit 2.5 times better compared to the best ADC ever reported. The ADC is especially suited for nomadic applications and is scalable in clock rate and towards the 45nm CMOS technology node and below.
