eASIC, ASIC Architect Debut High-Speed PCI Express, DDR2 Interfaces
eASIC Corporation, a provider of Structured ASIC devices and Configurable logic IP, and ASIC Architect, a leading supplier of high speed IP cores, announced the immediate availability of two new high-speed interfaces for eASIC’s 90nm Nextreme Structured ASIC Family: PCI Express (PCIe) Endpoint Controller and DDR2 memory controller. The PCIe controller features maximum data throughput with a latency of less than 11 clock cycles and provides local connectivity for, wireless, desktop, enterprise and communications system platforms. The DDR2 core is tuned to provide connectivity to the latest DDR2 memories at speeds up to 533MHz. Both PCI Express and DDR2 Controllers have been hardware proven in eASIC’s Nextreme Structured ASICs devices.
MOSAID, Semico, Fidus Host SoC Design Technical Seminars

Major Open Standard Architectures Account for 65% of COM Modules
The major open standard architectures are dominating the Computer-On-Modules (COMs) market, according to VDC’s recently released third volume of its Global Market Analysis of Merchant Computer Boards for Embedded & Real-Time Applications. Based on the data from this latest edition of the study, the major open standard architectures – which include ETX, COM Express, DIMM-PC, and SOM-144 – were responsible for 65% of the total COM modules market in 2005. This percentage is expected to increase to 70% in 2007, taking five percentage points of market share away from proprietary architectures.
Microchip’s IEEE 802.15.4 Radio, PIC18 MCU Combo is ZigBee Compliant
Microchip Technology Inc., a leading provider of microcontroller and analog semiconductors, announced that it has achieved the ZigBee(TM) Compliant Platform designation from the National Testing Service and the ZigBee Alliance, for the combination of its MRF24J40 IEEE 802.15.4 RF transceiver and the PIC18 family of high-end 8-bit Flash microcontrollers. Additionally, Microchip offers compliant development tools and compliant source code for its royalty-free, no-cost license ZigBee(TM) protocol stack. The ZigBee Compliant Platform designation means that design engineers can use Microchip’s semiconductors to build products that will interoperate over a ZigBee protocol wireless network.
