RapidIO Radio to Debut with New White Paper
The 2007 debut episode of RapidIO(R) Radio from the RapidIO Trade Association previews a new white paper, System Interconnect Fabrics: Ethernet Versus RapidIO(R) Technology, available February 6th, which concludes that for many embedded applications, RapidIO technology outperforms Ethernet. The Podcast initiates a discussion on the comprehensive compilation of embedded interconnect information, the high-level market perspective, in the paper and technical examination of the two technologies.

TI Updates Analog eLab Design Center
Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN) introduced an updated Analog eLab(TM) Design Center Web site, featuring the new SwitcherPro(TM) power supply design tool – the newest in TI’s Pro Series of tools – and a new release of TINA-TI(TM) 7.0 simulation environment, which now includes SMPS (switch-mode power supply) simulation with acceleration. The Analog eLab Design Center provides engineers a one-stop site to learn, select, design and simulate with resources that make it quicker and easier to achieve results using TI’s high-performance analog products.

NEC Introduces Six New Microcontrollers for Inverter Control
NEC Electronics announced the availability of six new microcontrollers (MCUs) for inverter control systems, designed for advanced motor control applications in products such as air conditioners, refrigerators and washing machines. The new devices feature high performance with advanced control functions for more precise motor control, as well as integration of formerly discrete components to help lower costs. The new offering includes four 100-pin V850E/IG3 MCUs and two 80-pin V850E/IF3 MCUs.

OneSpin 360 Module Verifier Wins Design Verification Tool Award
OneSpin Solutions GmbH, an electronic design automation (EDA) company that provides breakthrough formal verification solutions, announced that its flagship OneSpin 360(TM) Module Verifier (360 MV) product has captured the International Engineering Consortium’s (IEC) highest honor in the third annual DesignVision Awards program – winning the “Design Verification Tools” category award.

TI, Mouser Electronics Host Webcast on Analog eLab Design Center

Aonix Reveals Zero-Cost License Model for ObjectAda for Linux

Jennic Tapes Out ZigBee Wireless IC with Cadence Low-Power Solution
Cadence Design Systems, Inc. Synopsys Variation-Aware Extension to SPEF Receives IEEE 1481 Approval
Synopsys, Inc. (NASDAQ: SNPS), a world leader in semiconductor design software, announced that the IEEE 1481 working group has approved its proposal for an extension to the Standard Parasitic Exchange Format (SPEF) for process and temperature variation. This proposal enhances the existing IEEE standard 1481-1999 for SPEF by providing a common medium to pass sensitivity-based parasitic information between electronic design automation (EDA) tools. The Synopsys proposal includes key extensions that accurately and concisely represent interconnect parasitic sensitivity information required for sub-65-nanometer (nm) processes. The draft standard for the SPEF extension is now pending balloting and approval by the IEEE Standards Board.

Mentor Graphics Corporation (Nasdaq: MENT) announced that it is extending its working agreement with Texas Instruments (TI) to provide developers an integrated Operating System solution for the mass market. Integrated within TI’s foundation software, Mentor’s Nucleus(R) Mobile Operating System (OS) will provide a scalable and robust platform for developers working with TI’s OMAP-Vox(TM) platform and 2.5G chipsets, allowing them to quickly and easily integrate basic features and multimedia applications into handsets.

Opera Software announced that Opera 9 for Devices will be deployed on the new Tranzas set-top box, the TRZ-8300. Tranzas Inc. is the Japan-based leader in offering a complete solution for Video on Demand streaming and helping customers to find IP solutions for devices. Tranzas will use the Opera browser to deliver Web content and the user interface to the TRZ-8300, which is designed for deployment in hospitality market, including hotels, hospitals, and spas.
