• Beceem Adopts Blast Yield TX, Quartz RC, Quartz Time for TSMC Process
  Magma(R) Design Automation Inc. (Nasdaq: LAVA), a provider of semiconductor design software, announced that Beceem Communications, a leading provider of chipsets for Mobile WiMAX technology, has expanded its use of Magma software. A long-time user, Beceem Communications is utilizing the full suite of Magma Blast IC implementation products including Blast Create(TM), Blast Fusion(R), Blast Plan(TM) Pro, Blast Power(TM) and Blast Noise(R).
• Low-Priced UML Modeling Tools Make Impact
  The growing complexity of today's embedded software and systems has driven many developers to consider a model-driven development strategy. Recently published research by Venture Development Corporation (VDC) indicates that more developers are expecting to adopt model-driven development approaches, including UML, over the next two years to cope with this complexity and an increase in the lines of software code per device.
• Toumaz Wins Innovation Award for Wireless Vital Signs Monitoring

  Aeroflex outlined its product strategy with regard to 3G LTE – the initiative relating to the Long Term Evolution (LTE) of 3GPP radio technology. Aeroflex will also be demonstrating its complete 3G test coverage highlighted by various new product developments and enhancements relating to its 6103 mobile handset test systems, 6401 mobile protocol test system, 6413A UMTS basestation test system, WiMAX protocol conformance test solution, PXI 300 Series modular wireless test platform and IQCreator software.
• Matsushita Ships Non-Exploding Lithium-ion Batteries
  Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. (MEI; TSE:6752; NYSE:MC), best known for its Panasonic brand, announced that one of its subsidiaries, Matsushita Battery Industrial Co., Ltd. (MBI) has established a mass-production system for a lithium-ion battery that incorporates the technology to ensure safety. The company began shipping the industry's first 2.9 Ah(1) high capacity batteries in April this year and is now ready to mass-produce the products.
