  • Cadence, Si2 Team on Low-Power Design, Implementation, Verification
    Cadence Design Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CDNS) and Silicon Integration Initiative (Si2) today announced that they have aligned their efforts to produce a common industry standard for low-power design, implementation and verification. The combined effort calls for the Si2 Low Power Coalition to standardize on the Common Power Format (CPF) for a single-file approach to low-power design intent.
  • Cadence OpenChoice IP Program Gains Six New Members
    Cadence Design Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CDNS), the leader in global electronic-design innovation, today announced that six companies have joined the growing list of Cadence OpenChoice IP Program members. ChipIdea; Fabbrix; GDA Technologies, Inc.; Ingot Systems, Inc.; Intelliprop Inc.; and IPextreme have joined the program that is designed to ease the process of integrating IP into customer designs.
  • Aeroflex Adds Channel Fading to 6401 AIME 3G Mobile Protocol Test System
    Aeroflex has announced that it has added a radio channel fading capability to its highly successful 6401 AIME 3G mobile protocol test system. The 6401 AIME’s new radio channel emulation capability addresses and overcomes the inherent drawbacks of traditional RF based radio channel emulation methods by integrating these functions at baseband. Applying the time varying radio channel characteristics digitally facilitates very high accuracy combined with precise repeatability, essential for thorough testing of the physical layer of 3G devices.

    Lattice Semiconductor (NASDAQ: LSCC) today announced that IntelliProp, Inc., a comprehensive Intellectual Property (IP) and verification solutions provider focused on the storage industry, has joined the ispLeverCORE(TM) Connections program.     Wind River Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:WIND), the global leader in Device Software Optimization (DSO), today announced that Wind River(R) Platform for Networking Equipment, Linux Edition, will be optimized to support Sun’s breakthrough UltraSPARC(TM) T1 processor.   • Atmel Debuts Low-Power tinyAVR Microcontrollers with High-Speed Timers
    Atmel(R) Corporation (Nasdaq:ATML) announced today three new 20-pin tinyAVR(R) Flash microcontroller devices with high-speed timers targeting battery chargers, sensor end-points and motor control applications. The devices are pin-compatible, differing only in the size of their Flash, EEPROM and SRAM memories. The ATtiny261 has 2 Kbytes of self-programmable Flash memory, whereas the ATtiny461 and ATtiny861 have 4 Kbytes and 8 Kbytes, respectively. All devices deliver 20 MIPS throughput when running at 20 MHz.
  • Microchip Announces PIC Microcontrollers for Intelligent Motor Control
    Microchip Technology Inc., a leading provider of microcontroller and analog semiconductors, today announced the PIC18F1330 and PIC18F1230 8-bit microcontrollers for basic, open-loop and low-end closed-loop motor control that is not algorithmically intensive. Additionally, these new microcontrollers address motor control applications where cost and space are primary design concerns, via the combination of a specialized PWM peripheral with up to six channels and 10 MIPS performance at 40 MHz in packages as small as 18 pins.
