- Semiconductor Firms Validate Synopsys’ New ATPG Technology
Synopsys, Inc. (Nasdaq: SNPS), a world leader in semiconductor design software, today announced that it has collaborated with several semiconductor firms to test a new automatic test pattern generation (ATPG) technology designed to increase the quality of manufacturing tests by targeting small delay defects. The enhanced capability uses precise timing information from the Synopsys PrimeTime(R) sign-off static timing analysis tool to test for small circuit delays that could result in timing failures when parts are run at-speed. Because traditional transition-delay ATPG does not directly target small delay defects, the new approach can further improve quality and reduce test escapes for digital integrated circuits (ICs) sensitive to small delay defects.
- Ford Standardizes on CHS Electrical Design Tools from Mentor Graphics
Mentor Graphics Corporation (Nasdaq: MENT) announced today Ford Motor Company’s decision to standardize worldwide on Mentor Graphics CHS(TM) flow for the design of vehicle electrical systems. The intent is that CHS will be used by the entire Ford group including the Jaguar(R), Land Rover(R), Mazda(R) and Volvo(R) brands. Ford Motor Company will deploy CHS’s powerful electrical system design and integration software, and also the CHS harness engineering and costing tools.

NEC Corporation (NEC) today announced that it initiated patent infringement litigation against Italian digital microwave radio (DMR) manufacturer SIAE Microelettronica S.p.A. (SIAE) in the Italian District Court of Milan on October 16, 2006. NEC alleges that DMR equipment manufactured and sold by SIAE infringes European patents owned by it.
