  • Microchip Places Intelligent Power Supply Design Center Online
    Microchip Technology Inc., a leading provider of microcontroller and analog semiconductors, today announced an online Intelligent Power-Supply Design Center. This comprehensive Web site provides technical tools and resources needed to design analog power-supply applications, augment existing analog power-supply applications with inexpensive microcontrollers, or design Switch-Mode Power Supply (SMPS) applications involving digital control of the power-conversion feedback loop. The Design Center offers complete access to Microchip’s power-supply application notes and reference designs, which include everything from a pure analog approach to completely digital implementations.
  • EION Wireless, Wavesat to Deliver WiMAX Standard Based Solutions
    EION Wireless, providers of intelligent broadband wireless access and backhaul solutions, today announced that it is collaborating with Wavesat as a WiMAX technology partner to deliver the next generation of WiMAX standard based products. EION already has an established global customer base with its leading WiMAX class product, Libra MX. Integration of Wavesat’s WiMAX chipset with EION’s product line will enable EION to rapidly deliver WiMAX complaint products to the market.
  • California Micro Unveils Display Controller for Wireless Handsets
    California Micro Devices (Nasdaq: CAMD) today unveiled a dual display and audio controller for wireless handsets that incorporates the VESA Standard Mobile Display Digital Interface (MDDI) link, which is fully compatible with QUALCOMM’s Mobile Station Modem(TM) (MSM(TM)) chipset solutions. The new CM5100 features a fully compliant, MDDI based serial client, an integrated display controller with embedded memory that supports primary thin film transistor (TFT) liquid crystal displays (LCDs) with resolutions up to QVGA (320×240) and secondary displays with up to QCIF+ (176×220) resolution.

  • ST to Integrate ARM Cortex-M3 Processor into 32-bit Microcontrollers

  • Toshiba Offers In-Circuit Emulator for TLCS-870/C 8-Bit Microcontrollers
    Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc. (TAEC) today expanded its embedded systems tools capability with the introduction of a new low-cost, compact full in-circuit emulator that supports development of embedded applications based on its TLCS-870/C Series microcontrollers. Dubbed the RTE870/C Light Emulator, it is available in three versions for 5 Volt (V) emulation chips in FBGA177 packages, 5V emulation chips in FBGA272 packages and low-voltage emulation chips in FBGA272 packages.
  • Synopsys, ARM Introduce CCS Noise Models for ARM Physical IP
    Synopsys, Inc. (Nasdaq: SNPS), a world leader in semiconductor design software and ARM [(LSE:ARM); (Nasdaq:ARMHY)], today announced that the ARM(R) Advantage(TM) , Metro(TM) and SAGE-X(TM) standard cell libraries, part of its Artisan(R) physical IP family, now support the next-generation signal integrity signoff models based on Liberty(TM) Composite Current Source (CCS) modeling technology. Used in conjunction with the Synopsys PrimeTime(R) analysis tool, the golden signoff standard, CCS noise models allow designers to get better accuracy and reduced turnaround time. Liberty open source noise models also facilitate visibility into transistor-level behavior that is key to nanometer sign-off analysis. CCS noise models are proven to deliver sign-off level accuracy to within two percent of HSPICE(R) simulation as seen at leading semiconductor companies.
  • Toshiba Rolls Out 16-Bit and 32-Bit Embedded Flash Microcontrollers
    Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc. (TAEC) today announced the broadening of its embedded flash microcontroller (MCU) product line with the addition of two new 16-bit MCUs and a new 32-bit MCU based on SuperFlash(R) technology. TMP91FW40FG is Toshiba’s first 16-bit SuperFlash-based MCU to incorporate an LCD controller and was designed for electronic metering and similar applications that require 16-bit performance to drive an LCD display. TMP91FW60FG/DFG is a 16-bit device that offers a combination of 128 Kbytes of flash memory and 8 Kbytes of RAM plus 5 volt (V)-compliance, making it ideal for robust industrial and white goods applications. TMP92FD23AFG/ADFG is a 32-bit MCU that incorporates 512 Kbytes of flash memory and 32 Kbytes of RAM, making it well suited for many industrial applications, such as vending machines and industrial control.
