  • Freescale Creates MCU for Automotive Instrumentation Cluster with TFT
    Freescale Semiconductor (NYSE:FSL) (NYSE:FSL.B) has introduced a 16-bit microcontroller (MCU) designed for the next wave in automotive instrumentation clusters. The MC9S12XHZ512 MCU is the industry’s first instrumentation cluster MCU featuring an integrated thin-film transistor (TFT) display drive.
  • TechnoConcepts Files Patent for Reducing Power in Wireless Devices
    TechnoConcepts Inc. (OTCBB:TCPS) today announced that it has filed a provisional patent application with the US Patent and Trademark Office for a new method to reduce power in high-speed digital wireless devices. The “Low Power, Low Voltage, Digitally Trim-able Active Back-termination LVDS driver” is a Low Voltage Differential Signaling (LVDS), low noise, low power, low amplitude circuit for high-speed (gigabits per second) data transmission. The Company anticipates that this invention can be used in the digital interface circuits of many high speed semiconductors, including digital wireless receivers and transmitters.

  • Enterasys Accelerates Verification with Synopsys’ VCS Native Testbench
    Synopsys, Inc. (Nasdaq:SNPS), a world leader in semiconductor design software, today announced that Enterasys Networks, a provider of security-enabled network infrastructure products, has selected the Synopsys VCS(R) functional verification solution and its SystemVerilog Native Testbench (NTB) following an extensive evaluation of available solutions. Enterasys has adopted the VMM methodology, as defined in the Verification Methodology Manual (VMM) for SystemVerilog, to accelerate the creation of a powerful, efficient verification environment. Enterasys created a SystemVerilog verification environment for a complex, multi-chip telecommunications router switch in significantly shorter time than previous designs, and with the VCS solution has uncovered bugs that remained undetected by legacy verification environments.
  • Ramtron Unveils 512 Kilobit FRAM with High-Speed SPI Interface
    Ramtron International Corporation (Nasdaq: RMTR), a leading developer and supplier of non-volatile ferroelectric random access memory (FRAM) and integrated semiconductor products, has launched the FM25L512, a 512 kilobit, 3-volt non-volatile FRAM device with a high-speed serial peripheral interface (SPI). The FM25L512 provides increased data collection and storage capacity in a tiny, 8-pin package, cutting costs and board space in a range of applications from multi-function printers to industrial motor controllers.
  • TI Digital Signal Controller Supports Up to 16 DC/DC Converters
    Allowing power system designers to transition to software-controlled, digital power management using 32-bit digital signal processor- (DSP) based controllers, Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN) announced the availability of the TMS320F28044 digital signal controller targeted at multi-channel point of load (POL) applications such as telecommunications and networking infrastructure equipment, servers, laptop computers, and industrial equipment. The new F28044 controller is the industry’s only device to offer the ability to manage up to 16 DC/DC converter channels using a single programmable controller with 100 MIPS of DSP performance. At only $5.00 in volume, the F28044 device provides full digital loop control and system management for as little as $0.32 per channel.

  • RadioScape Upgrades Arqiva DAB Multiplex, BT Movio Mobile TV Service
    RadioScape, a world leader in digital multimedia head-end and receiver technology, has upgraded the Arqiva DAB multiplex that handles BT Movio’s wholesale Mobile TV service, which was launched on 1 October 2006. The upgrade is to the latest version of RadioScape’s DAB Professional Broadcast System Version 5.1 and enables multiplexes to handle Mobile TV broadcasting. The upgrade is part of an agreement that will enable Arqiva to begin upgrading its inventory of 47 DAB digital radio multiplexes in the UK, which forms the world’s largest DAB installation and is used to provide virtually all of the UK’s commercial DAB broadcasts.
  • Toumaz Creates Sensium Module for Wireless Vital Signs Monitoring
    Toumaz Technology Limited today announces the first availability of the Sensium(TM) modular system, a new ultra-low power wireless infrastructure for health and lifestyle monitoring applications.
