WiMAX Moves from Professional to Volume Deployment
According to Future Horizons, wireless broadband access via WiMAX is moving away from professional-only batch-produced propriety equipment to a mixture of volume professional and consumer units with its implications for low-cost mass production.
Future Horizons predicts a unit growth rate of 87.6% per annum for subscriber equipment over the 2005-2010 period to 96 million units in 2010. This high growth in units will be reflected in a very strong growth of semiconductor sales in this sector as the market accelerates.
